The role
This role is the owner of day‑to‑day governance, risk, compliance and business continuity across the group.
The purpose is simple: make sure risks are identified, documented, monitored, escalated and owned, and that governance and continuity arrangements work in practice — not just on paper.
This is a delivery role, not a policy‑only or advisory position. You’ll be expected to run processes end to end, keep controls moving, and hold the business to account, while working confidently with senior leaders and boards.
What this role owns
Risk & GRC
- Owns and runs the group risk management approach
- Maintains all group and entity‑level risk registers
- Identifies and tracks emerging risks
- Produces clear, structured risk reporting for exec and board forums
- Owns GRC tools, including configuration, data quality and usability
- Challenges risk owners where risks are unclear, unmanaged or drifting
- Produces governance and risk papers for senior forums
- Ensures decisions, actions and ownership are clearly captured
You enable and challenge risk ownership — you do not take ownership of the business’s risks on their behalf.
Business Continuity & Resilience
- Owns business continuity planning across the group
- Leads business impact assessments
- Plans, runs and evaluates BCP tests and crisis exercises
- Acts as a key decision‑support lead during incidents or disruptions
- Ensures BCP and IT disaster recovery are aligned
Compliance & Assurance
- Owns key policies and their lifecycle (draft, review, approval, rollout)
- Coordinates internal and external audit activity
- Supports practical implementation of compliance requirements
Senior stakeholder engagement
- Works directly with exec leadership and board members
- Challenges constructively where standards or controls are not being met
- Facilitates risk, governance and BCM sessions
What this role is not
- Not a people management role
- Not a legal or company secretariat role
- Not a regulated‑environment compliance lead
- Not a design‑only or framework‑on‑paper role
Essential
- Hands‑on experience running risk management activity
- Strong experience maintaining risk registers and reporting risk at senior level
- Business continuity planning experience, including testing and exercises
- Experience working across group or multi‑entity structures
- Confidence working directly with senior leaders and boards
- Ability to produce clear, credible written outputs
Desirable
- Experience helping design or reshape GRC frameworks
- ISO 22301 exposure
- Familiarity with ISO or other assurance frameworks
- Exposure to global or multi‑region organisations
